How to determine checksum of a file?
Aug 5, 2004 9:14 PM

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get the checksum accurately of a same file that is in a local directory and the checksum of the same file that is in the FTP remote host? And when i compare these 2 similar files, they have the same checksum.

Thanks.
Willy

If the files are the same, then of course the checksum will be the same no matter where the files reside, and regardless of what checksum method is used. I don't believe that it's possible for a FTP client to run a checksum on a file that resides on a remote FTP server - the server would have to had done that, or the file woul have to be FTP'd to the client, and the client could then run the checksum.

If that's not the answer to the question, repost.
