provider issue
Aug 4, 2004 6:54 AM

I am writing a custom provider, It is based on a URLScraperProvider.
That being said, here is
the general logic of the my customer provider that makes it
different.

The custom provider has a relative URI that loads static pages under
the local web server and displays it in the channel.
The URL or URI has macros that allows the provider to customize what
the users see base on roles. The following is an
example of the macros in the URI.

uri :
/portal/myworkspace/docs/html/static/channels/${businessUnitRole}/${channelN
ame}/${languageCode}_index.html

and applying an sample results would look like this.

BHX is the businessUnitRole
TestMeChannel is the channel name
languageCode is en-us from the browser

uri :
/portal/myworkspace/docs/html/static/channels/BHX/TestMeChannel/en_index.htm
l

You might ask why, to minimize the number of desktop profile
instances.

I using the URLScrapperProvider as the base class and I am using
getHttpContent to load the content of the uri from
the files system or the web server. But it looks like it returning
thing that are not there. Why am I having this issues?
Is there a better way of doing this? I need more documentation.

Sounds like a bug to me. Could be in your program or theirs. Impossible to tell with the information provided.

Is there a better way of doing this? I need more
documentation.

A better way of doing what? And why ask here for more documentation? Ask the people who wrote the URLCrapperProvider for more documentation if they didn't provide enough.
