NetBeans modules
Aug 2, 2004 7:57 AM

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, not sure where to put this...)

I'm using the metrics module for NetBeans. It opens a class file and analyzes it, returning various software metrics (or complexity measures). However, I would like to be able to create a Java program that allows the user to input the file they want to analyze, and my program calls Netbeans's metrics module itself, and returns the data in the program. Is there any way to do this, to access a Netbeans module from Java? Thanks,

Adam

The project doesn't seem to be finished yet, but it seems to be a plug-in, not a "library". There are two things you can try :

A) Mail the author and ask him if can send you the documented API.

B) Javadoc the sourcecode and start reading it...

Yeah, I see that it's a plugin, not a library, but I was hoping to use some of the sourcecode for my own program...though that doesn't seem to be working....I was wondering if there's a way to use this module in Netbeans, and have the results returned to Java.
