you have to enter the java's path to PATH system variable :)

or go to the directory where you have installed the java JAVA_HOME\bin and type JAVA it will work :)

I am wanting to write a small Java application that will be run under DOS. Is this even possible, i.e. is there a jvm that runs under DOS? If there is a DOS jvm where can I get it? Any inputs are appreciated.

I think there's some kind of a JVM implementation for MSDOS but can't remember where. Sun doesn't have one.

Some of the JVMs listed here are reported to work on MSDOS:

I think DOS is considered so obsolete that there aren't VMs for it, but let's google for it.

So people have tried...but architectural difficulties make it impossible to create a real VM for DOS.

Hi,

Do you mean that you want to run it on a machine that only has dos installed, and no windows version at all?

Java, being 32 bit (and now some 64 bit versions), won't work on 16 bit operating systems.
The lack of long filename support in DOS will also prevent it from working.
