JList selection question...
Jun 21, 2004 1:59 AM

Dear all,

I am quite new to Java technology, which means I am still struggling a bit to understand all the
bits and pieces of this technology.

For the first time I gave JList a try the other day to have a quick way of presenting objects in a list
oriented manner. The objects I have in mind for what I am thinking, will contain editable text fields.

The problem that I have encountered is that if these objects are presented using JList and I
click on the objects, selection is handled by JList, so if I have as I mentioned, an text field inside
the object, selection/focus is not passed to that field/object.

Is there are a way to resolve this, or is JList only intended to be a utility class for selection of
objects and nothing more? What would be the preferred method in Java to present a set of objects
(for example panes with editable fields in them) in a list oriented way to bypass this "problem" I
have with JList?

I apologize if the question appears to be stupid, but it is even more stupid not to ask at all :-)

Any help is highly appreciated!

Best regards,

Xxodus.

Swing questions should be asked in the Swing forum.

Use the appropriate Layout Manager.
