problem with character encoding in scrollable recordsets
Jun 14, 2004 6:44 AM

Hi all,
i have a table with NVARCHAR (cyrillic string) columns, MS SQL 2000 server.
when i create a recordset with ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE all characters are coming
as ???????? but if i make the recordset not scrollable then everything is ok.
what is the difference in character encoding for both of them?
10x

I suspect that in the scrolling case the Strings are being buffered in the ResultSet and, when transfered from database to buffer, being converted using your default charset.

If you don't change any of your code except the ResultSet type, I would call that a JDBC driver bug.
