You can buy a subscription of Sun Developer Network (notice the striking resemblance of the name), like you can do with MSDN.

If you go to some Sun-sponsored conferences (like JavaOne, or Sun Tech Days, or some Java User Groups conferences) you can get a DVD-ROM with the trial software of Sun Developer Network for free.

That said, the search feature here isn't that bad
really. If you're a bit thoughtful about what you put
in for search criterion it will yield up what you're
after.

I don't agree. There was one occasion when I remembered a specific series of words I had typed into a forum here. I searched for that string in the forum search, and in all forum search, and didn't find the topic. I went to google and it came up as the first hit. I have not used this site's search feature since.

All I can say is it's been of use to me. I don't always use it, I'm just not quick to blame it if it can't find what I'm looking for.
