Does anyone know for certain if Java 1.5 will support operator overloading?

Operator overloading is evil. Very few people implement it properly, and where it is implemented properly, it leads to a code base that is impossible to read, debug and understand by anyone looking at it.

IMHO, any operator overloading should be part of the language itself (such as the + overload with String objects) - i.e. properly thought through, properly implemented, extensively tested and available consistently to all programmers.
